I believe we had a thread like this before, but I'm noticing most of the ezboard threads no longer have the pics to go with the posts, so I figured I'd
just start it again for all those people who weren't around then.

I've just been going through my old pictures (because I want to see if there's a resemblance between Jasper and me), so I have a few.
I think I was 1.5 years old in this picture.
On my 2nd birthday.
Series of pictures taken on my 7th birthday. My parents let me taste a tiny bit of red wine and then sat back to enjoy my reaction. It took me a while to dare to try it again.

Gunes!
Do you like wine any better now?
Your parents sound like....fun...You are so cute. Then and now. I'm so glad my parents live thousands of miles away and I can't post any of my younger pictures. I guess I could just post this, but tell you my skin was a little lighter. That's about the only difference...

Do you like wine any better now?Oh, yes, much better. I don't drink it that much though. Your parents sound like....fun...I was going to say: "It took me a while to forgive them", but that sounds melodramatic and it's not true anyway. They are fun, and they knew the tricks to raising me. You are so cute. Then and now. I'm so glad my parents live thousands of miles away and I can't post any of my younger pictures.Aw...
That's about the only difference...I love the hair. Seriously, I understand that it's a pain to comb et cetera (one of my best friends has hair much like yours, and I've heard her complaints), but it's still great hair. |

Gunes-About the being glad my folks live thousands of miles away...I really don't mean it for anything but my access to baby pics. They use to live almost
down the street from me..and it was GREAT. But a year and a half ago they moved back to Indiana to be near my other sister who they apparently love more than
me. (lol...but I'm not BITTER!) I'm still a little sad...So once in a while I do the appropriate thing, and lash out at them in subtle ways.
I always feel much better after.
And about the hair, thanks so much for your kind words...but you of the Straight Shiny Hair will never realize how lucky you really are. |

I broke my WRIST by falling down the stairs. Since then I've always been extra cautious going downstairs. My mother told me, had she not caught me I
would've broken my neck. So it was a pretty bad fall. I was excited about getting to ride in a hot air balloon, but instead I ended up in the hospital, but
it rained anyways so that got canceled. I remember trying to pretend like my wrist was okay and breaking out into tears when my mom tried to turn it. I was
like "I'm fine, I'm fine, it doesn't hurt."

Well, here's the one of me that I posted in barka's VW thread.
It's from April, 1976, a few days after my 17th birthday. It was taken by a News Journal photographer that saw me and a couple friends driving down the street in my fiberglass-bodied Bradley GT kit car and chased us down to take a picture of us for the newspaper. Thankfully, this one didn't make it into print...
...but this next one made it onto the front page of the second section,

Whatever happened to that car ?After burning up the first engine when the fan belt broke while I was cruising down the highway, (no idiot lights and minimal gauges make it hard to tell what's going on in the engine compartment, and who knew a VW engine would continue to run for quite a while without it's only belt intact) we put a newer engine in it and I drove it for about two more years. I was involved in a very minor fender-bender that unfortunately busted up the front drivers side fender area of the one-piece fiberglass body (while leaving not a scratch on the other car) and bent some front end components. We (my dad and I) got it drivable and shored up the body damage as best we could but it was never the same after that. We ended up selling it to a guy that worked with me at the gas station where I had been previously employed. I really wasn't all that sorry to see it go, even with all the fun times I had in that thing. It was possibly the most ill-handling, unsafe, impractical and unergonomically correct vehicle ever to hit the road. It did look pretty slick though. Groovy! Love the pants.Ah, yes, the finest brown & white polyester bell bottom slacks money could buy (in '76). The brown rib knit Ban-lon golf shirt and original Adidas running shoes in bright yellow w/black stripes were a nice accompaniment, dont'cha think?
With that outfit and that car you were sure dyna-MITE!Meh, I know you'll find this hard to believe but I was really a clique-less, outsider back in those days. To be honest, I liked it that way. A friend of mine used to have one of those helmet-head haircuts.I continued to let it grow to various new lengths. For instance, this look from a couple years later...
...of course I didn't usually go out and about wearing rebel officer's garb. When I grew my hair out that long it looked like a cross between a bad Afro and a squirrel's nest. Of course that didn't stop me from growing it out anyway. We demand photographic evidence! |
