Tibs, you sound like you're on the road to Nutsville. I hate abortion. And i'm not a liberal unless you think somebody who thinks like Tom Jefferson or Tom Paine is a 'liberal.' I'll cop to that. If somebody wants to kill the baby in their own womb I think it's a tragedy. But it's their own tragedy. If the baby is a two headed or deformed mess, I might eve decide to pass up on the blessing of a baby if same baby manifested in my uterus.

In my opinion Caesar and the Empire have their laws. Christians are free to adhere to our own beliefs including NOT to avail ourselves to abortions. How clear is that? If believing christians don't want to have abortions nobody is going to make them and you can't declare otherwise. if pagans, atheists, agnostics or whoever else want to have the freedom to end lives in the wombs they themselves must answer to God, if such a judgment will occur. I think i am theologically sound with this and in line with the U.S. Constitution.

It is a fact I know from talking to women who are older and wiser than me that abortion has always been practiced. Many women died from septic infections and other complications. I'd rather abortion be 'safe' for women who choose it than dangerous or lethal. If it is a sin it is between them and God. That is how i think the founding fathers would decide abortion if they had deemed it important to address in national law. Abortions did indeed happen during that era. They were occasional when a family was burdened by more children than they could support and were performed by midwives or more rarely doctors.

Is it really your right to have a say over pregnancies of women wholly unrelated to you for whom you bear no responsibility? If you want to help children help their mothers have options to support children they bear. Help the children get health care and get fed and adequately educated. It's crazy for middleaged men to get worked up over fetuses they didn't make. As I've said before, i trust God to make the big decisions. Jesus said His kingdom was not the temporal world. When and if He comes again he will rule. He did not instruct Christians to impose any sets of laws upon this world. It is more of a Muslim or Communist concept to attempt to impose their principles upon everybody, even those of different belief systems.

I trust Jesus at my Judgment and the judgement of all. Certainty and zealotry are often the signs of people whose minds are confused or who are delusional. I actually believe in Christian doctrine which is interpreted differently by believers. If C.S. Lewis (or Cardinal Newman) were alive today he would think as I do. We can only be in charge of our own peace of minds and heart. I DO read the bible often. To engage in murder to stop murder is against Christ, who sacrificed his temporal life for us.
